When you resolve a dispute with the Administrative Housing Tribunal (TAL; formerly known as the Régie du logement), you may not agree with the decision. Whether you initiated the application or have been sued, it is generally possible to challenge a decision made by the TAL.
What are my options after receiving a decision from the TAL?
When reading the decision, you have two options depending on whether you were the applicant or the respondent. The applicant is the person who submitted the application to the TAL. The respondent is the person who opposes the application.
- Applicant
you accept the decision and want it to be implemented; or you are not satisfied with the decision and wish to contest it.
- Defendant
You do what the administrative judge (formerly called the regulator) decided; or you are not satisfied with the decision and wish to contest it.
